Tokyo Diary | Day 8

Last full day of training before the official start of the tennis Paralympic Games. I have to keep reminding myself that I’m actually at the Paralympics, I get so lost in routine that I actually forget sometimes!! And of course because there are no spectators and live streaming it really just feels like an ordinary tournament or even just a practice tournament. Last preparations went really well but Tokyo literally turned up the heat for the start of these games because it is extremely hot outside and even hotter on the courts so it’s definitely going to be a mental challenge to push my body through this heat and still give my best effort. We start with doubles and I’m very excited and happy to start with doubles so that I can get rid of those first day jitters before the singles start.

So a typical morning in the Olympic village will be, wake up, do all the mandatory covid tests, go for breakfast, catch a bus and head to the courts. Minimum socialising because you want to stay safe

Singles did not go quite as well as doubles did yesterday. I am so disappointed that I lost on the big court. Now I have to realign myself turn it around so that I’m ready and fired up for the doubles
